It’s not even two weeks until opening night, but the promotional machine for Cloverfield just doesn’t quit. The website for the Tagruato Corporation has been proven as a Cloverfield tie-in, but until this point was pretty much just a fake site for a fake oil drilling company that looked, like the rest of the Cloverfield marketing schemes, pretty real. But now, something has changed; as the website reads, “There has been an altercation at the Chaui Station.”
In classic corporate speak, Tagruato doesn’t admit that some crazy demon-beast has destroyed their drilling platform, but says simply, ”The cause of the problem is currently being investigated, although it is suspected that an eco-terror cell is responsible for the disturbance.” As usual, the government is covering up the truth and blaming it on the left wing!
ComingSoon also has a video “news report” of the event, but it’s in Italian, so it beats me how much information you actually get. And no, of course they don’t show the monster. Haven’t you learned anything by now?
I can’t decide if his penchant for creating fake corporations and a massive online presence is part of J.J. Abrams’ genius or his most maddening trait. Lost fans will fondly remember Alvar Hanso, a character who made appearances on the show in the form of microfilm and then hit the web as a representative of the mysterious Dharma Initiative, whose true meaning and purpose is still a mystery, three seasons in. Here’s hoping it doesn’t take that long to figure out the mysteries behind Cloverfield, and that those dirty Tagruato liars fess up that the beastie—whatever the hell it is—is actually the one to blame.

CloverfieldClues.com has all six of the "news reports" with transcripts. Each news story is a a little different, in a different language - English, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, and Russian!
- and it's really fun to watch them, i'd like to add. ^^ O, too bad that the Tagruato drilling platform sank. Ho do they get now that special ingredient? I could drink ever more and more delicious Slusho! ;-)
The broadcasting news are really perhaps the best Holliwood produced foreign language content: I cannot say about all news clips, but Russian, German and Japanese are really great and authentic.
It's obvious when you read through the horribly depicted events in the Tagruato site headlines, and the pathetic Slusho website with both of the sites referencing the deep sea along with death, destruction and turmoil as said before in the Chaui Station, and the Slusho inventors death out at sea, and the effect of Slusho on animals, with sea life in particular as referenced in the Tagruato headlines. Lost is an annoying show, with writers feeding their egotistical deep hungers. I think the beast or animal will be whatever they decided to pick that would look the coolest when it reacted to slusho. It is more than likely that the monster will not be unveiled at all. I will just wait until opening day and read confirmation on the story and beast when someone else spends the cash to see this pathetic excuse for something new in movie making concepts.
