With the new trailer and the confirmed name, Cloverfield is back to generating buzz again, now with a new poster. Those of you who were disappointed by the news that the mysterious “Cloverfield” project is actually named Cloverfield should probably stop reading now, however, because the poster is going to be equally disappointing for you.
The new “official poster” from Paramount for Cloverfield is exactly the same as the previous “teaser poster” with one difference: now we have the official title on the poster. That’s right – same shot of the headless Statue of Liberty, just panned down a little. Same mysterious path in the water leading to the devastated city. No new questions posed and no answers whatsoever, except the movie’s title. Terribly disappointing.
I’m still excited about Cloverfield, but I have to admit that interest is waning a bit. I was really hoping the new trailer would kick things up a bit, returning everyone to that initial level of excitement that came with the trailer with no name. Instead it’s turning a lot of people away. Is it possible Cloverfield PR peaked too soon?
