This is shaping up to be a great year for little indie sci-fi fantasy movies. First we had Moon and now I’m really looking forward to Cold Souls. It stars Paul Giamatti as Paul Giamatti, but a Paul Giamatti living in a world where it’s possible to extract a person’s soul with a little bit of high-tech wizardry. He has it done, to free him of all the bother a soul weights a person down with, and then spend the rest of the movie trying to get it back when it’s sold on the black market in Russia. It’s hard not to think of Being John Malkovich, but that’s not a bad thing.
