Colin Farrell / Ozzy Osbourne Rumor Debunked

A rumor popped online yesterday saying that Colin Farrell, an actor in the midst of an incredible resurgence, would be playing Ozzy Osbourne in an upcoming biopic. It had everything going for it: an actor with troubles similar to the subject's, a vague resemblance and a source that didn't have "celebrity" or "gossip" in the URL. Still, it turns out that the rumor is completely bogus.

Gossip Cop (the irony is not lost on me) is now reporting that the story is not true, citing one of Farrell's representatives as a source. The original story, run by the website Irish Central, claimed to have sources within Paramount Pictures and MTV, but, for now, it looks as though those claims were falsified.

Unlike the typical rumors that come out of places like The Sun or The Daily Mirror, this was one story that was hard not to get behind. If an Ozzy biopic is done, it needs to be done right and Farrell would have been a major step in the right direction. The Black Sabbath front man has previously said that if a bio pic were to be made that he would prefer an unknown talent from his hometown in Birmingham, England, and Farrell meets neither of those standards. But who knows? Maybe he'll have a change of heart and realize that Farrell could do a damn good job with the part.
