Colin Farrell's Mermaid Movie Ondine Gets A Release![]()
Colin Farrell was so very good in such a limited role in Crazy Heart that I've gone from complete indifference about his career to avidly anticipating his next move. And now it's looking like it'll be Ondine, an Irish indie in which Farrell plays a fisherman names Syracuse who rescues a young woman named Ondine out of his nets. Syracuse's daughter is the only one who can think of the logical conclusion-- Ondine is a mermaid, clearly!
The movie has been picked up for distribution by Magnolia Pictures, which will release it both theatrically and on-demand this summer. It was directed by Neil Jordan, who most recently made the oddball Jodie Foster revenge movie The Brave One but also has The Crying Game and Interview with the Vampire to his name. Seriously, it's not about the director or the story for me-- it's seeing if Farrell can keep following up on his In Bruges and Crazy Heart and The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus and impress us all over again. |
