A wise man would have thought that Robin Williams and his execrable RV would have killed the family road trip comedy forever. But wise men in Hollywood are pretty few and far between, and certainly not many of them work for Walt Disney Pictures. Therefore, Martin Lawrence will bring his shtick to a new Disney comedy called College Road Trip.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Disney Channel stalwart Raven-Symone (for those of you without tweens at home, you may remember her as Eddie Murphy’s daughter on Dr. Doolittle or as the Huxtable granddaughter on 'The Cosby Show') will co-star with Lawrence. Raven will play a young woman who wants to be a public defender and takes a trip to visit potential universities. Lawrence will portray her overprotective father, who also happens to be a cop. Get ready for the cross-generational sparks to fly!

Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio have written the screenplay. They are the writers of the upcoming Horton Hears a Who and The Santa Clause 2. The director is slated to be Roger Kumble. He previously helmed Cruel Intentions. No word on if Raven will be liplocking with any of the other prospective co-eds.
