The selling points of the upcoming action thriller Colombiana are pretty clear. It's got Zoe Saldana, who is beautiful, and she spends the time avenging the death of her parents and killing bad guys, which is awesome. The movie, directed by Olivier Megaton and written by Luc Besson, doesn't seem to be going for subtlety or hiding its assets, and neither is the first poster, which popped up online today at IMP Awards. I love the fact that Saldana is now a big enough star to merit the giant credit on the top of the poster, since I feel like she wasn't given nearly enough credit for the success of either Star Trek and Avatar. And again, I love the blatant obviousness of the tagline: "Revenge Is Beautiful." It ain't subtle, but that isn't really what you want when seeing a film with Besson's name attached anyway. Hopefully it will be like other recent Besson-produced efforts Taken and From Paris With Love-- dumb but undeniably enjoyable.
