Shane Black, who we reported in October was working on a script for an adaptation of pulp adventure star Doc Savage, is apparently still hard at work on that script, but now he finally knows who's really producing and whose going to fund it.

Columbia Pictures will pick up the project, according to Variety. Though Black originally indicated Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci were producing, Variety's report says Fast and Furious producer Neal Moritz will be responsible.

Black, who is now co-writing the script with newcomers Anthony Bagarozzi and Chucky Mondry, will also direct the movie.

Doc Savage, for those of you who didn't grow up listening to the radio or reading pulp rags in the forties, is for all intents and purposes the perfect husband turned almost super hero. An inventor, adventurer, surgeon, explorer and artist, he was also relentlessly dedicated to his own version of the Boy Scout credo and fabulously wealthy to boot. Oh, and did I mention he's dashingly handsome? He's the perfect cocktail of Superman, Batman, Indiana Jones and Abraham Lincoln. I expect Jon Hamm will be getting a call any day now.
