Comedy Rebuilds For 40k![]()
We can rebuild him. We can make him better… stronger… faster… But, what if the government refused to finance such an operation. What if, instead of having six million dollars to rebuild astronaut Steve Austin, only $40,000 was available? That appears to be the premise behind the script for The $40,000 Man, a spoof of “The Six Million Dollar Man” being produced by New Line.
According to Variety, New Line forked out six figures for the script from John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. This is the first feature script from the pair of television writers whose credits range from “The New Adventures of Old Christine” to “Kitchen Confidential”. The story mirrors that of “Six Million Dollar Man” – an astronaut is horribly injured in a car accident and rebuilt as a bionic man, for a light $40,000. No doubt the story will explore bionic mishaps and how the newly restored hero is inadequate. |
