Comic Con 2011: Damon Lindelof Confirms Prometheus Is Filming In 3D![]()
This summer it's been incredibly rare that we've gone more than a couple weeks without the release of a 3D film. Thanks to the incredible success of Avatar in 2009, the technology has been applied to nearly every single genre film, from straight action to superhero to sci-fi. But while the boom may be starting to wane, there are still many projects currently either in development or in production that are planning for a 3D release and apparently Ridley Scott's Prometheus is one of them.
I just returned from a press conference featuring writer David Lindelof and film star Charlize Theron where the former revealed that Scott is filming the new science fiction film in native 3D. Said Lindelof, "For Ridley to be coming back to the genre, for him to be shooting in 3D for the first time, he's shooting it in 3D, it's not a conversion, just the way it's going to look and the way that it's going to feel has to be special." When asked if the dark tone of the story and dark atmosphere would affect the brightness in the theater, the writer responded, "When Ridley decided to direct the film in 3D, and I think that he could probably much better answer that question than we can, he understood that was going to be one of the profound challenges of the movie." I'll be speaking more with Damon Lindelof about Prometheus in a just a little bit, so be sure to stay tuned for that!
