There are a lot of reasons to love Conan O’Brien. Not only is he the funniest late night host on TV, but he’s always stood up for what he thought was right and has no problem throwing shit in the face of people who are doing him wrong. Not unlike many superheroes.

Yesterday at SDCC, the red-haired giant literally crashed the Warner Bros. animation panel in order to show of the trailer for his proposed new animated series The Flaming C, which stars Conan himself as protector of what looks like New York City, his old home. The clip boasts tons of high flying action, a creative use of oven mitts, and the end of the world. How much more high action can you get?

Until the closing slides announce “Coming Sometime...Maybe” you could actually buy that this might turn into a real show. The animation is pretty solid, there’s a lot of fun to be had, and Conan’s “bat voice” is 100 times more bearable than Christian Bale’s. Alas, for now this is just a big joke that Conan elaborately pulled together, but if I had to guess I’d say that the people in Hall H were more excited for this prospective series than they were for Warner Bros. Green Lantern: The Animated Series which they were showing off before Conan showed up to make the panel awesome.
