If you think that once Transformers: Dark of the Moon comes out you'll be free and clear of aggressively violent and dumb summer movies, you probably ought to check out the new redband trailer for Conan the Barbarian. Oh, I'm sorry, make that Conan the Barbarian 3D.

Starring Jason Momoa, who you may know by now as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, it promises a movie full of clanging swords, bursting arterial veins, at least one hot chick and Ron Perlman, who has a supernatural ability to look cool in even the dumbest of movies. What really sets this trailer apart is the awful modern rock that takes over the soundtrack about halfway through; if you ever doubted this movie was aimed toward teenagers trying to sneak into an R-rated movie, here's your proof. I don't begrudge the movie any of this, mind you-- I'd much rather this kind of sword-wielding, head-chopping action movie wear its nonsense on its sleeve, as opposed to something like Prince of Persia, which tried to take itself a touch too seriously. With the final tagline "When a Barbarian is thirsty, he thirsts for blood," this trailer is letting you know exactly what you're in for, and that's a strength of character you've got to admire just a little. Conan the Barbarian comes to theaters on August 19.
