See, what'd I tell you? When writing yesterday about Chris Weitz sticking up for the 22-year-old accused of pirating minutes of New Moon footage, I predicted that the charges were likely to be dropped, given that they're more interested in making an example of of Samantha Tumpach than actually prosecuting her.

And now THR is reporting that it's actually happened. Cook County prosecutors in Chicago have said they won't pursue chargse, which means that Tumpach is a free Twihard once again. Had she actually been caught surreptitiously recording the movie, and not just taping her sister's birthday party as she claimed, we might be looking at a different story. But it is nice to know that, next time you need to mute a call on your video-equipped iPhone during a movie, you won't be accused of piracy in the process.
