Internet petitions have again proven themselves completely irrelevant and utterly useless. Despite fan outcry against Daniel Craig as James Bond, Bond producer Barbara Broccoli is already prepping him for a second movie.

Broccoli has locked him in for another Bond flick and told Empire Online, “We are already working on the sequel.” The first Daniel Craig starring movie is actually a prequel to the other Bond films, and it’s currently in production. Barbara says Craig’s next Bond outing, “will be an original story but will continue part of what the story is in Casino Royale.”

So regardless of whether or not the still in production Casino Royale turns out to be any good, Bond’s producing team is already in the early stages of making more movies in that same mold. They’ve either seen something pretty compelling in what’s already been done with Casino, or they don’t really care and are only interested in shipping out as many movies as possible as fast as possible in the hopes that there’s still audience money to be had. I’m not feeling cynical, so let’s go with the former. Casino Royale could turn out to be really really good.
