There's more than a few things visually arresting about the new teaser poster for Crank 2: High Voltage. You've got the veins with the word "Crank" written in them as creepily as possible, you've got the fingers giving the devil horns, and you've got the bolt of electricity running between them, suggesting everything from an unusual plot to badassery. And then, of course, you've got the ultimate promise of badassery: Jason Statham's name on the poster. With all those things going for it, how can Crank 2 lose?
Head Honcho Josh Tyler said Crank 2 was one of his most anticipated movies of 2009, and while I haven't even seen the first movie, I see where he's coming from. Statham has proven to be ridiculously worth watching in even the lamest of projects, and I like the idea of something that embraces his tendency to be smoldering and a little insane. I don't think this was the intention, but I think this teaser poster has inspired me to check out the first movie, rather than the sequel. It helps that the new poster neatly evokes the poster for the first movie, which means I might be getting what I'm promised here.
