Creatures Get It On In This Splice Clip
Fred meets Ginger. Fred falls in love with Ginger. Then, er – they imprint? It’s not a situation that’s easy to describe, so you better check this clip out for yourself. It’s from Vincenzo Natali’s Splice, a sci-fi/creature film starring Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley.
They play a pair of geneticists who create an organism called Dren that grows quickly and eventually way out of their control. In this scene, they unite two other experiments named Fred and Ginger. Let’s just call it a twisted boy-meets-girl tale. The concept is interesting and I really wanted myself to like this clip, but it looks a little ridiculous. Perhaps the event unfolding will hold more weight in context with the rest of the film, but alone, it’s kind of funny and I don’t think it was intended to be. It’ll be interesting to see how audiences react when the film makes its debut at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22nd. |
