Cusack May Not Be Playing Cusack![]()
John Cusack is the master at playing the slightly misunderstood, yet somehow charming everyman. He’s the guy every dude roots for and every woman wants to date. He’s witty and smooth, but his characters misfire enough to be easily related to. His image is… well, it’s everything I have ever wanted to embody, until now.
The Hollywood Reporter is claiming Cusack (Say Anything, High Fidelity) has signed on to lend his voice to the title character, Igor, in the new CG animated film from the Weinstein Company. Igor originally went to creepy eccentric Christian Slater, but after he pulled out for unknown reasons, the roll went to Cusack. The forty-year-old actor seems a perfect choice for Igor, a shy, middle-aged semi-loner with a knack for winning women’s hearts. Wait? That’s not the roll. Igor is a what? A gifted scientist with a hunch on his back forced to slave for the evil Dr. Glickenstein? Who the hell thought this was a good idea? Sean Hayes of ‘Will and Grace’ fame has also signed on to play Cusack’s sidekick Brian The Brain. The film is set for a fall 2008 release. It will also star ‘SNL’ alum Molly Shannon, late night host Jay Leno, Stifler’s mom’(Jennifer Coolidge), and Cusack’s Con Air costar Steve Buscemi. No word yet on how many outraged young women will leave after Cusack fails to steal their hearts. |
