It’s official, Dakota Fanning has signed on the dotted line and she’ll now join the cast of the Twilight franchise. E! reports she’s now a lock to play the character of Jane in the upcoming sequel New Moon.

The character is an angelic looking, Italian vampire. Apparently for the sequel, Edward spends some time in the country shaped like a boot.

Already in the New Moon cast are of course, everyone from the previous movie. Interestingly Twilight star Kristen Stewart will also appear with Dakota Fanning in the Joan Jett biopic The Runaways. Stewart plays Jett and Fanning is singer Cherie Currie.

I know after her rape scene in Hounddog we’re all supposed to accept the fact that Dakota Fanning is all growed up now and can play rock stars and sexy vampires… but I’m not ready to embrace it. She still seems like an awkward kid to me.
