Now that Twilight is a hit, big names want in on the sequel. The first one angling for a spot in New Moon is Dakota Fanning.

According to E! they’ve offered her the part of Jane in the film, and Fanning is currently in negotiations to join the cast. Those who’ve read the book tell me Jane is a vampire, and an exceptionally creepy one. She’s a member of Italy’s Volturi, the most deadly of all vampire bloodsuckers. The way they describe her has me thinking a little of a slightly older Kirsten Dunst in Interview with the Vampire.

This is one piece of casting which feels just right. Fanning has always been slightly creep, yet for some reason she’s never explored that side in any of her movies. The girl has the perfect face to be a zombie, a vampire, or the bride of Chucky. Of course it’s Twilight, so I’m sure even her murders will be terribly romantic or something. Still it’s a start down the road away from cutesy, kid characters for Dakota. Start the bloodletting!
