Remember all those rumors about Jessica Simpson getting a part in Dallas? Like so many other Jessica Simpson casting rumors, forget it. Add this to the growing list of parts she hasn’t been able to get.

Simpson had been on the short list of actresses fighting for the part of Lucy Ewing in the upcoming Dallas movie. Instead the part has gone to Katie Cassidy, the 20-year-old actress who played Samantha in last weekend’s box office smash Click. Already locked into the Dallas cast are John Travolta and Jennifer Lopez.

US Weekly says Cassidy was picked over her competitors for her attitude. Jessica wasn’t the only other actress in contention for the role, “Veronica Mars” castmember Kristin Cavallari was also one of the front runners. Producers worried that Jessica or Kristin might pull a diva trip, and clash with some of the other cast. By some of the other cast, it’s probably safe to assume they mean JLo, isn’t it?

It’s been a big year for the relatively unknown Katie. In addition to a part in Click, she also had a role in the early-year horror remake hit When a Stranger Calls, and later this year she’ll appear in the movies Walk the Talk, You are Here, and Black Christmas.
