Dan Aykroyd Back With Landis For Burke and Hare![]()
When I first read that John Landis was finally coming back with a feature film after an 11 year absence, my roommate was concerned that I was having an epileptic episode. What's more, the film would bring the director back to his roots as a master of comedic horror (An American Werewolf in London has aged incredibly well) and would star one of my favorite current comedic actors in Simon Pegg. To coincide with the comeback, Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Landis is bringing back one of his favorite actors as well.
Dan Aykroyd, who starred in seven of Landis' previous movies, has been cast in Burke and Hare, the story of two British graverobbers/murderers who sold the bodies of their victims to a local medical school for profit. Pegg and David Tennant play the titular characters, and Bill Nighy has also been cast. It is not yet known what role Aykroyd will be playing, but hopefully they don't stretch him with a forced British accent. With Chevy Chase now on TV every week, Steve Martin hosting the Oscars, and Bill Murray still hanging around, it looks like late-1970s comedy is back in full swing. Now all we need is to resurrect the dead bodies of John Belushi and Gilda Radner, but that's probably a job best left to Burke and Hare. Zing! |
