While I don't remember receiving any formal notice or memo, apparently August 18, 2011 is "New Movie Stills Day." It's still early in the afternoon here on the west coast, but we've already seen brand spanking new images from Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. The theme day now continues with two new pictures from David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Based on Stieg Larsson's international best-seller, the new film stars Daniel Craig as disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist who is hired by an aging industrialist (Christopher Plummer) to come to an isolated estate to solve a 40 year old crime. Enlisting the help of a young, goth hacker named Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), Blomkvist manages to uncover a dark family secret. In the two stills below you can see what appears to be Blomkvist going over and analyzing evidence from his research, and the protagonist having a "can you hear me now?" moment.
