When I read books, I get a certain mental image of the main character. I think most people do. How else can you read a book unless you picture something and become attached to it? When reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, I had an image of the main character, Mikael Blomkvist, as blond-haired, sleek, middle-aged, ladies man. I guess I wasn’t the only one. According to The Wrap, Daniel Craig is in talks to star in the upcoming movie adaptation Stieg Larrson’s best seller. David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) will direct the much-anticipated US version of the film. The Danish version is currently playing in theaters.

Craig would play Blomkvist, a disgraced journalist hired by an aging and wealthy businessman, Henrik Vanger, to solve a decade’s old murder. Blomkvist sets about researching the Vanger family with the help of computer hacker, and dragon tattoo-wearing, Lisbeth Salander. Craig is currently in pre-production on the newest Bond movie (Bond 23) and Jon Favreau-helmed Cowboys and Aliens.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is set to start filming in October with a December 2011 release date. It is the first book and film in Larsson's Millennium Trilogy which also includes The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.
