Daniel Radcliffe Needs A Gardener In New Woman In Black Image![]()
Daniel Radcliffe was smart in picking his first post-Potter project. Child actors who have grown up playing roles in kids' movies or, even worse, playing the same character in a number of films, almost always struggle when it's time to move on to something else, to more grown-up parts. Granted, many of those child actors don't have the piles of fuck-you money that Radcliffe and his fellow Potter stars have earned, so he's got a distinct advantage. Nevertheless, Radcliffe's next film, the period horror thriller The Woman in Black continues to look rather awesome, and promises to help start putting a certain boy wizard in the career rearview.
Adapted from Susan Hill's 1981 novel by screenwriter Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass), The Woman in Black casts Radcliffe as a young lawyer sent to a remote village to see to the affairs of a recently deceased client. Once there, he discovers her home troubled by more than just unresolved paperwork, and runs afoul of a vengeful ghost. Goldman has proven her knack for genre movies with the above titles, as well as the underrated Neil Gaiman adaptation Stardust. Her name is enough to suggest we might get something more than just another disposable horror movie. Moreover, the trailers we've seen so far look sufficiently creepy (that damn eyeball!). CBS Films has gradually been siphoning out more little glimpses at The Woman in Black as we approach its February release date. Now they've sent along another still from the movie. While it doesn't provide much insight into the storyline's secrets, it is moody as hell and proves that Radcliffe looks right dapper in a suit.
The Woman in Black hits theaters on February 3rd, 2012. You can find out more in our Blend Film Database. |
