Daniel Radcliffe To Play Photographer In Indie Comedy![]()
The first few choices apart from a major franchise can be the difference between legitimacy and non-relevance. One has to look no further than Star Wars to prove that theorem. In reality, the movie itself doesn’t even really matter, it more depends on whether the actor is widely considered good in it. Choose a part that’s too close to home, and your critics will continue to think you’re only good for those types of roles. Pick something too challenging and any after effects that may have come from embodying the same character over and over again will be exposed. Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe is currently mulling over just such a predicament, but he’s finally settled on his second post Hogwarts’ role.
After completing work on the thriller The Woman In Black, he’ll head off to the indie world for a quirky comedy about photography. Adapted from his own novel, Christopher Monger, the man who wrote HBO’s recent award-winning Temple Grindin, will direct Radcliffe in The Amateur Photographer. According to Variety, the film is set in New England in the 70s and is the story of an unlikely shutterbug chosen by the locals to film their more important moments. I’ve gotta be honest: this feels right. Radcliffe has always been best when playing up Harry Potter’s more quirky shyness, and he should be able to tap into that here. It’s a departure, but it should still be in the comfort zone. |
