Do you ever wonder if Danny Elfman had wild high school days, and, during those days, if his friends referred to him as The Wolfman? Nah, me neither, but maybe they will now that Elfman is providing the score for The Wolf Man, the remake of the old horror movie that will star Benicio del Toro and Anthony Hopkins.
Ain't It Cool reported the news yesterday, and Harry Knowles got so excited he waxed poetic about all the possibilities Elfman could bring to the score. "He can give the gypsies their beat & jingle. He can give the moors their eeriness. And he can give the night air its menace - the moon its longing and the Wolfman -- a soul. And Talbot - his melancholy." That all sounds about like what Elfman has brought to the scores of all the Tim Burton movies he's done so far, so there's no reason to think he won't bring the goods for this one. The Wolf Man will be released April 3, 2009.
