Remember those rumors that Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises would film scenes at New York City’s Occupy Wall Street rallies? Yeah, well, like many theories swirling around Nolan’s anticipated Batman sequel, it turns out to be false.

Warner Bros. reps have told EW that Nolan’s production crew will not be shooting in Zucotti Park, which is the hub of the OWS protestors. The rumors began circulating when casting call notices seeking extras to play law enforcement agents "within a city besieged by crime and corruption." The jives with the chaos Nolan appeared to be filming on the streets of Pittsburgh over the summer in some heavily photographed outdoor shots. Anonymous sources at the time leaked information that the Occupy Wall Street movement could provide a backdrop, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Still, Nolan will have plenty to shoot while in New York City for the next two weeks. I just wonder if he and his crew will do a better job of hiding what they are filming than they managed to do in Pittsburgh and Los Angeles, where set photos and videos were as prevalent and numerous as the bats in the caves beneath Wayne Manor. For those unaware, The Dark Knight Rises reportedly concludes Nolan’s Batman trilogy, and features Christian Bale’s hero going up against Tom Hardy’s Bane and Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman. It will be in theaters on July 20, 2012.
