Dark Shadows TV Spot Shows Off Some New Footage
The marketing for Tim Burton's Dark Shadows took an uncomfortably long time to get going, apparently the floodgates are now open. In preparation for the film's May 11th release, Warner Bros. finally let loose the first trailer a little over a week ago and followed it with some splashy new character posters. Less than six days after that we already have our first television spot.
Released by TheMovieBox, this is actually one of those rare TV trailers that gives us some new footage, as opposed to just condensing the already released stuff. For example, while our first look at the film painted it with a goofy brush, this spot opens with the vampire Barnabas Collins, played by Johnny Depp, feeling a bit thirsty after being buried underground for two centuries. Check it out!
Based on the horror soap opera from the 1960s, the story follows Collins as he is cursed by a witch (Eva Green), turned into a vampire and, as mentioned before, buried alive (well, undead). Released during the 1970s, he finds that his the Collins name, estate and company isn't what it was and takes it upon himself to bring them back to the top. The film also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Jonny Lee Miller, Chloe Moretz, Helena Bonham Carter, Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcote.
