Darkness For Xmas

Christmas Day has always seemed a weird time for me to release a straight up horror movie. Note I said horror not horrible, plenty of those every year. It happens occasionally though and it’s happening again this year. But then again, horror freaks are always up for some splatter. I imagine they’d take some sort of perverse pleasure in watching freaky shit go down on Jesus birthday. Besides, plenty of people will be no doubt watching The Passion and you can’t get much more splatterific than that.

In this case the Christmas released horror movie is New Line Cinema’s Darkness a horror thriller that’s probably not so much about splattering brains as it is about sacrificing children up to a dark shadowy power. Perhaps if they put a big white beard and a jolly red beanie on the dark shadowy power the film will then be release date appropriate. Anyway, we’ve got a look at the poster for the film direct from New Line to us to you. I guess the poster is kinda cool in a disease ridden kid in the dark sort of way. Is that lupis or leprosy? Kind stock horror movie with kids artwork really. Take a look of it to the right of all these words and you’ll see it.

At the same time, New Line is rolling out the trailer for it, so if you’d like a more detailed description that the four words with superfluous and totally unrelated commentary above, well we’ve got that covered too. Personally, if I have to watch something involving Darkness I’d much rather be spending time with the cross-dressing rock band.
