David O. Russell Starts A Brawl![]()
The last time David O. Russell tried to make a comedy, the production turned into more of a comedy of errors. Nailed has finally finished production, after halting several times because it couldn't pay the crew, and presumably the movie won't ruin Russell's career. Even if it does, he has a backup plan in Matthew McConaughey, of all people.
According to Variety, Russell is looking to direct The Grackle, a McConaughey project that was announced over two years ago. McConaughey plays a barroom brawler who uses his "skills" to serve as an ad hoc lawyer for people who can't afford a real one. The movie will apparently be more along the lines of Wedding Crashers or Tropic Thunder than Fool's Gold-- meaning it might actually be worth watching. We all know what awesome stuff Russell can turn in when he gives it a shot, and same goes for McConaughey. The two of them together could be an enormous disaster, or it might just inspire to turn in something great. Each of their careers could use a giant hit, so I'm betting we'll see something worthwhile come from this. |
