David Schwimmer is a pretty funny guy. To boot, pretty much everything he’s done both as an actor and a director has centered around his comedic talents. So the question has to be asked: is the world ready for a dark drama about internet predators that is co-written and directed by Ross Geller?

The story will follow a family whose young teenage daughter is lured into the confidences of and victimized by an internet chat room stalker. The movie, entitled Trust, is slated to start filming in November.

The move is definitely a bold stroke for long-time comic man Schwimmer, but he’s earned the confidence from more than one big Hollywood name. Variety reports the movie will star Clive Owen and Catherine Keener as the parents of the teenage girl.

No indication yet of who will play the predator, but the description of the story suggests it may focus more on the devastating aftermath than the crime itself. Sorry Chris Hansen, no cameo for you.
