Death Cab For Cutie Reaching Out To Twihards![]()
This sounds about right. Death Cab For Cutie, the indie rock band that's just emo enough for teens to dig it, but not too emo to admit to listening to in the mid-00s, have signed on to provide the lead single for New Moon, the sequel to Twilight which has a built-in audience of emo girls ready for the weepy lyrics.
The song will be called "Meet Me On The Equinox," according to THR, which also sounds about right. It's a title that suggests romance, contains a reference to the moon that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and also suggests two lovers who are separated. But "Meet Me on the Equinox" won't be the only new song for the film; apparently every song on the soundtrack will be exclusive to the film, making this a bonanza for any artist who wants to get in touch with perhaps the mopier-than-average. Say what you will about the first Twilight film, but it definitely carried a vibe well-suited to a slight tinge of indie, and it sounds like they're going for the same with this one-- Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, Muse and Radiohead's Thom Yorke all have songs in the running. If you're unfamiliar with Death Cab For Cutie, listen to their 2003 song "Transatlanticism" below. It was the mopey song of choice my sophomore year of college, and has pretty much the same vibe I expect from this new track. Bring on the silent tears! |
