Before Rob Zombie transitioned from heavy metal rocker to respected horror director there was Dee Snider. Snider made his name in the band Twisted Sister and had a cup of java at the top in the music for freaks industry. In the late 90s he tried to make the jump from musician to filmmaker by writing and starring in the horror movie Strangeland.
Strangeland wasn’t exactly a success, but for a brief while there Snider’s name kept popping up whenever anyone was talking horror movies. I have a weird feeling that Strangeland would have done better were it released today. Torture porn is a mainstay in modern theaters and that’s really what it was. A sicko named Captain Howdy (played by Snider) lures teens into painful traps and bloody rituals. He’s caught, cured, and released but soon reverts to his old ways and sets out looking for revenge. It’d fit pretty comfortably in between Zombie’s stuff and Hostel. The movie only made $2 million in 1998, today that would probably be 10 or 20, depending on how much gore they slipped past the censors.
Well Snider isn’t done with his quest to become a horror genre icon. In an interview with Metal Sludge he tells them that he wants to make a Strangeland sequel. But there’s a catch. He says, “The U.S. government seized the property and arrested the CFO of The Shooting Gallery, the production company who made the first "Strangeland." So I was in court fighting to get my property back for
5 fucking years! I did finally get it back this past year and now Lions Gate Entertainment says that they'd like to pick it up. Their exact words were, "We want to make the sequel." But getting it from there into movie theaters is going to be a long fucking road.”
So it sounds like it’s happening, and Snider says your first glimpse of the sequel will be on an upcoming re-released DVD of the original Strangeland. For the DVD, they’re going “to be shooting a new scene, which will be attached to the end of the movie as a teaser for the next one.” That scene will be used as the opening for the sequel, which according to Snider is being called Strangeland: Disciple. Captain Howdy gets a protégé?

Looking forward to seeing it. The first was pretty cool, would love to see a sequel. I'd love to see some collaboration however by using music from bands like Scum of the Earth and even some Twisted Sister tunes. Scum of the Earth features former members of Rob Zombie, Riggs and John Tempesta, and John Dolmyayan from System of a Down. They are perfect for horror movies, etc... and since they all come from Rob's camp, their music would fit perfectly.
Almost 10 years now , and I still remember how tripped out by the curiosness of the premise on which this movie was based. Though nowadays Captain Howdy would not amaze anyone as a real person. Looking forward to the second installment.

You should diffently make a second one ASAP. My friend introduced me to the first strangeland movie and he thinks more primitivly then any guy I know and I was simply amazed by it. The acting all done top notch along with the bondage ect.. loved it. This movie if it was shown in theaters today would diffently standout more then it did back then. Dispite the internet predator crime rate. If I was a parent then my kids would learn from this movie pretty quick after watching the movie I believe its very educational along the way. Also if your going to make a strangeland 2 movie plzzzzzzz keep with the metal heavymetal or hardrock. Reason I say this is because to many kids are turning emo and listening to softer crap or maybe iam just getting older but the best days of music were in the 90s to the millinum then record companys started forcing bands to go soft its BS and now emo msuic is the mainstream. So besides that iam just saying music has a big impact on movies aswell...Fuckit put some oldschool Dope/Nothingface music bands on there and watch the nowadays listeners headspin LMAO
The only thing I didn't like was the plot jumping, it just moved around too much. Dee Sinder did a great job! I loved the way Caption Howdy toured people. I was very origial. I really enjoyed the movie and I'm not the type to watch this kind of stuff.
Strangeland was the best movie iv ever seen i cant believe i just saw it yesterday!! i would definitly party with CaptHowdy. i mean whats not 2 love. hes a phyco peircing maniac. i hope you make another movie like this.....
Finaly we get to see Dee at his best. I loved the first one and will definatly see the 2nd. Don't leave out to much gore if you want to keep us fans really happy Dee!!!! If you need a victum I will volunteer!!!!!

Dude the first Strangeland was fucking sweet, it inspired me to get into the art of body piercing. I can't wait to see the 2nd one. Im so fucking excited!!!!
Dee Snider is a god. Did anybody notice the professional bitchslap he gave Robert England. He basicly messed him up in the end because Dee was denied any part of the original Nightmare on Elm street because of Twisted Sisters dark image. DEE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whoa!! what an awsome movie i'm a piercer from australia and my boss gave me the nickname howdy when i first started id never heard of or seen the movie untill last night and it all makes sense now.Enjoyed it majorly dunno if im just a sick bastard or what but the boss reckons its me all over ha ha great movie,great soundtrack can't wait for the next one bring on the pain!
