Guillermo del Toro is still working on that long promised, slow to happen, Hellboy sequel. But he's also planning another comic book adaptation. Variety says Warner Brothers has hired screenwriter Gary Dauberman to work with him on a script for a film based on the DC Comics series "Deadman".

Like Hellboy, Constantine, Spawn, and Ghost Rider this is yet another comic character who gets his powers from the occult, or the underworld, or from being flat out dead. Frankly, it's getting pretty boring. Whatever happened to good old fashioned cosmic radiation?

Deadman it's safe to assume, would be unaffected by rays cosmic or isotopes of any type. He's the ghost of a murdered circus acrobat given the power to possess any living being by a Hindu goddess. He uses his power to search for his murderer and helps other people along the way. Wikipedia calls it The Fugitive meets Quantum Leap, and that sounds just about right to me.

Will Guillermo direct it? It's possible. He's just not committing yet. Is this is post-Hellboy 2 project, or is it his backup project for when Hellboy 2 falls through again?
