MOVIE NEWS
Diablo Or Not?![]()
Earlier this week, the news spread across the web that Legendary Pictures, the production company behind blockbusters like Batman Begins, Superman Returns, and 300, had listed a few new projects on their official website. Among their upcoming projects: a sequel to Superman Returns, a remake of Clash of the Titans, a movie set in World of Warcraft, and another video game project: Diablo.
While World of Warcraft made news a few weeks ago with an official announcement of the adaptation, this was the first real word we had about a Diablo movie. The video game, which pitted players against demonic forces threatening the village of Tristram, was incredibly popular a decade ago and was followed by an even more popular sequel, but a movie adaptation seems a little delayed. Now we have to question if this was an information slip or an accident entirely, because the Legendary Pictures website no longer has Diablo listed under upcoming projects, or listed at all for that matter. Is a Diablo movie forthcoming? Do we even want such a thing? Truth be told, Diablo could make a pretty cool movie as long as Uwe Boll gets nowhere near it and writers don’t make it too safe for family viewing (removing the demon references). I guess we’ll have to wait for official word, but we may have managed to get an advance peek at some upcoming news due to some webmaster’s slip. |
