Diane Kruger Replaces Eva Green As Marie Antoinette In Farewell, My Queen![]()
Where did Eva Green go? It was only in 2006 that the beautiful young actress landed the prestigious role as the Bond girl in Martin Campbell's Casino Royale, but has only made two movies in the last two years and neither has received any play (Cracks, which Green made in 2009, will be released next March and Womb has yet to schedule a release date, though has played at various international film festivals). Sadly, this article won't make Green fans very happy.
French website Allocine reports that Diane Kruger has been brought in to replace Green as Marie Antoinette in an adaptation of the Chantal Thomas novel Farewell, My Queen. Directed by Benoit Jacquot, the cast also includes Lea Seydoux, Virginie Ledoyen and Gerard Depardieu and centers on the final days of the French Revolution. Production is set to begin next spring. While you certainly will never find me complaining about Diane Kruger being in a film - she is a Basterd after all - I will say that I miss Eva Green's screen presence. She has a great deal of talent and it would be great to see more of her. With any luck, Camelot will fill that void. |
