The director of Saw II and the upcoming Saw III is about to get paid. He's earned it. Saw II was a mega-hit and no doubt Saw III will be the same. His name is Darren Lynn Bousman and he's cashed in his Saw respect for a two-picture deal with Dimension and Twisted Films.

Bousman's first project under the deal will be something called Wichita, a movie written by first time screenwriter Scott Milam. Details on exactly what the film are seem a bit sketchy, but it's billed as a movie in which an "unthinkable crime devastates the lives of eight unspecting people."

What exactly does that mean? It means you're going to be scared. At least that's what Darren is going for. At Dimension event to announce the impending film he said, "This movie will scare people like never before. I am eager to integrate this new slant on horror with a company known for its revolutionary genre films."

But how will he scare us? Mutant hillbillies? Unbelievable, overly complicated traps? Screenwriter Scott Milam says they'll try reality. "What’s terrifying about this story is that it’s based in reality and could happen to anyone. It’s a slice of Americana gone bad and getting worse.” Actually, that sounds a lot like it could be killer hillbillies. Or maybe they'll go for a slightly more real version and use angry, drunken white trash. Plenty of that lounging around the country.

Bousman's Saw III is due out in October of this year. After that, he should be free to get going on Wichita, and whatever other project he picks as part of his double deal.
