Rosario Dawson wasn't born a geek, but after spending so much time around people like Kevin Smith and Robert Rodriguez she's eagerly embraced becoming one. In fact, the babalicious star of Clerks II has created her own comic book. It's called "O.C.T. Occult Task Force" and she's on the verge of transforming it into her own little franchise mini-farm.
In a press release sent to us today, Dimension Films head Bob Weinstein announced that they've acquired the rights to "O.C.T" and they're planning to turn it into a feature film. Rosario will be heavily involved. She'll not only star in it, but she'll produce it as well.
Rosario seems rather excited: "I'm excited to develop and produce a film that comes from a comic book where the protagonist is based on the likeness of a real person." Because there's nothing more realistic than an Occult Task Force, right? Oh, she must mean the character's physical appearance. The hero of the books is drawn to look like Ms. Dawson. Not a bad choice if you're looking for a busty beautiful heroine.
"O.C.T." won't stop with feature films. Rosario has already announced plans to turn the thing into a television miniseries and a video game. She announced that in June, and the first issue of her title didn't even hit shelves until July.
If you're one of those frustrated comic artists working in obscurity and desperately trying to get your work noticed, now might be a good time to hang yourself.
