Transformers movie producer Don Murphy is polling fans for their reaction on who should direct the upcoming flick. This week on his message board over at DonMurphy.net, he confirmed that AICN was wrong and that the guy who in my opinion is the perfect choice to direct this thing, Robert Zemeckis, has turned Transformers down and is totally out of consideration.

Murphy has suggested Roland Emmerich as a prime choice. “I like Emmerich a lot,” he says while at the same time suggesting U571 helmer Jonathan Mostow as another director he’d consider. Mostow wouldn’t be a terrible choice, but Emmerich needs to be kept far away from this film. I don’t need to see Autobots versus a tidal wave.

But those directors are just ideas and he’s calling for fans to give him their suggestions for who they think should run the show. It’s an open opportunity for people smart enough not to suggest Brett Ratner to make themselves heard.
