Till now, Neil Blomkamp’s upcoming movie District 9 has been nothing more than a vaporous viral marketing and the collectively crushed dreams of a million Halo fans. That’s going to change next weekend when, according to The One Ring, the first trailer for District 9 will debut in front of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
District 9 hits theaters on August 14th, so it’s about time we saw something. It is somewhat surprising though, that Sony would choose to debut their trailer in front of Fox’s Wolverine, when they could have waited just a couple of weeks and premiered the trailer in front of their own Angels & Demons. Perhaps it’s because Angels & Demons courts a different audience than they one they’re aiming for with District 9, an alien-themed movie most likely to play best to Wolverine’s somewhat geekier audience.
