DreamWorks Gives Another Job To Sam Weir![]()
Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley might be the superstar writing duo you haven't heard of yet. The two have sold several scripts to studios over the last few years, including The $40,000 Man and Burt Wonderstone, but none of them have gone into production just yet.
Now they can add another to the growing pile-- DreamWorks has picked them to write Cal of the Wild, a comedy that takes off on reality TV shows like Survivor. According to Variety, the script follows a guy who's been faking his way through a reality TV survival show, but then must actually find a way to make it in the wilderness. Daley's face is more familiar than his writing-- he starred as Sam Weir on Freaks and Geeks, and for some reason hasn't ridden the Apatow coattails of that show that so many of his co-stars did. But hey, he's also a regular on Bones, playing Dr. Lance Sweets, so it's not exactly like he's gone nowhere. Since the studios seem so enthusiastic about Goldstein and Daley, surely one of their scripts will surface eventually. But for now I guess they can enjoy the feeling of being mysterious. |
