Dreamworks Courting Tim Burton For Monsterpocalypse![]()
Dreamworks is apparently picking up anything with the 'pocalypse' suffix attached, adding Mosterpocalypse to their upcoming production slate that already includes Robocalypse, based on a novel of the same name by Daniel H. Wilson. The studio is looking to get the show on the road as fast as possible, and with Tim Burton attached to helm, according to Deadline.
Burton hasn't signed on the dotted line yet, but what Dreamworks wants, Dreamworks gets. The director will be headlining the jury at this years Cannes Film Festival starting today, but is packing his slate for when he finishes that run two weeks from now, adding Monsterpocalypse to a list of about five movies the director already has lined up. No telling where this one will fall in that list. Monsterpocalype is based on a table top game of the same name where players set up a city on a map and then attack using highly detailed miniatures. I would call this dorky, but I used to play D&D in the stuffy attic of a comic book shop so who the hell am I? The game sounds like big fun and the movie should be too. Here's the game description directly from their official website: This is Monsterpocalypse, a fast-moving, action-packed strategy game played with high-quality collectible miniatures portraying the most fearsome giant monsters on Earth! Each battle takes place in a city that you and your opponent construct by placing buildings on a city map. Players choose their forces from their respective collections of figures and then battle one another with giant monsters and supporting units such as tanks, flying vehicles, and all manner of creatures. Charge your monster into the city to fight for supremacy, and be the last monster standing! Anyone out there play? Sound off about how you feel about this film in the comments below. |
