Remember all those rumors about another Dukes of Hazzard movie? Well it’s happening, but it won’t be a sequel. Instead, it’ll be a low budget prequel with a replacement cast of teenagers.
Long time CB scooper Liam Wrberly sent us the heads up, after uncovering a recently released casting notice looking for Dukes replacement players. The prequel will introduce Bo and Luke Duke as teenagers during their first wild weeks in Hazzard County battling Boss Hogg and delivering Moonshine for Uncle Jesse. In the prequel, the plot will revolve around Boss Hogg trying to establish a moonshine monopoly of his own, presumably at the expense of Uncle Jesse’s slightly illegal still business. As usual, Boss Hogg’s first move is to foreclose on the Duke farm, and while the boys try to save it we learn the origins of the General Lee and Daisy Duke’s daisy dukes.
And you thought the original movie was bad.
The good news here is that the casting notice for the film clearly marks it as “straight to DVD”, so don’t expect to see this anywhere in theaters. Instead, look for it in the checkout lane at Wal-Mart, probably next to one of those horrible National Lampoon movies or one of the many upcoming American Pie direct to DVD spinoffs.
This probably also means that any thought of a legitimate Dukes of Hazzard sequel is dead. If you were looking forward to a new batch of on-set Jessica Simpson bikini pics, you’ll have to hope those rumors of her starring in a Baywatch movie come true.

The duke remake was terrible. I have been a fan of the orignal since i was 2. the movie was a bomb for me and there shouldn't be any more, unless it has the orignal cast like john schnieder and catherine bach.
I liked it.....and im old enough to remember the original. Most people truely DONT remember the original. The pilot, Roscoe was running for sherriff and was a prick. THere wasnt as much humor, Bo couldnt get laid and luke was a ladies man......
The movie was good, not great but good, the original cast would have tanked the movie..........there to old.
Hell most the young people i knew, didnt even realise there was an original, nor did they know there was an original, texas chainsaw, hills have eyes, or omen just to name a few.
You all'
Have to remember. The TV series was never asthetically correct. It did however highlight good clean fun among crooked politicians and law enforcement. While not very conducive to to reality in any way, it makes a well appreciated parody of how politics and public servants are lacking in any perception of how the world actually works. The movie emphasized the importance of defiance of a government that is not needed or wanted. Do some grass roots research and you will find that amongst the populace that this movie was well appreciated. I applaud any efforts for a prequel or a sequel. Do your research before bashing this institution of southern pride. The movie could have been better I admit. But, since the movie going audience is so impatient to see some twisted tale and stunts that this movie never will or want to deliver you want to bash it. I'm sorry it wasn't a Matrix since that is what you were obviously looking for. Maybe a prequel will change your mind, if you have enough imagination to realize why the movie was made anyway. Don't move here unless you know why we hate political correctness and why the movie was a hit here. Traffic sucks here, and at least that was emphasized in the movie. Oh yes, I forgot, you are too good to watch a straight to DVD movie anyway.
