Dumbledore Escapes Christmas In Scotland![]()
OK, take your mind off Obamanation and everything else that's happened since January 1, and think back to mid-December, when you would have done anything to never hear "Jingle Bells" again. You there? OK, so you're probably as intrigued as I am by the concept of The Inn at the Edge of the World, an upcoming movie about a group of unrelated people who all retreat to a remote Scottish island in order to escape the Christmas madness.
Tempting, right? The movie will be written and directed by Charles Dance, an actor who made his directorial debut in 2004 with Ladies in Lavender, a movie that won praise for performances by Judi Dench and Maggie Smith. Dance has collected a similarly highbrow crew for Inn; according to THR, Michael Gambon (a.k.a. Dumbledore), acclaimed comedian Stephen Fry and Penelope Wilton will all take part in the film, which is based on a novel by Alice Thomas Ellis. The movie begins shooting on location in Scotland this May. Being that it's a small British movie, there's no telling when we can look forward to seeing it on screens here. But I imagine come December there will be more than a few moviegoers who identify with the characters' desires to get away from anything that's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. |
