Dune Helmed By The Director Of Taken![]()
When we last heard about the the Dune remake, Peter Berg had decided to leave the project to focus more on Battleship, leaving Paramount to search for a new director to film the sand worms and Paul Atreides. Now, after two months of searching, it they've found their man.
Entertainment Weekly says Pierre Morel, director of Taken and the upcoming From Paris With Love, has taken the helm of the project, which he has promised to make as a direct adaptation of Frank Herbert's 1965 novel. A script has already been written by Josh Zetumer, but the studio is now looking for someone to touch up the draft so that it is more in-line with Morel's vision. Morel remains a fairly new director and while Taken has developed quite the fanbase, questions will undoubtedly arise as to whether he is ready for such a large scope film, or has the visual capacity to not only bring in the full scope of the Dune universe, but to match the work of David Lynch. And while Morel has quickly gained a small group of admirers, it is nothing compared to the cult that has developed behind the source material. This has been a special message from the Don't Fuck it Up Council. Enjoy the rest of your day. |
