Dwayne Johnson Shows Off Some New Skills In New San Andreas Training Photo

If there's one thing that Dwayne Johnson knows how to do - other than be one of the most charismatic action heroes in modern Hollywood - it's train. At 6'5 and about 260 pounds, the dude is built like a house, and has spent years diligently maintaining his figure with plenty of strenuous work. While this typically involves quite a bit of weight lifting, for his next film, San Andreas, Johnson has been doing a much different kind of training, as shown in the Tweet you see above.

Just because Twitter compresses its images in its embeds, you can get a full-size look at the image below:

As Johnson mentions in the message with the photo, San Andreas is a big earthquake disaster movie, and production on the film is scheduled to take place over the next few months down in Australia. Judging from this image, it would seem that at least one scene in the movie will have the star actually going down into a giant crevasse created by the aforementioned natural disaster.

San Andreas - which has nothing to do with the Grand Theft Auto game, but instead the fault line that runs through California - has been in development going back to 2011 and is being directed by Brad Peyton. This will be the second time that Johnson and the filmmaker have worked together, the first time being 2012's Journey 2: The Mysterious Island:

The film is based on a script by Allan Loeb, Carlton Cuse, and Carey and Chad Hayes, and the supporting cast includes True Detective's Alexandra Daddario, Carla Gugino, and Arrow's Colton Haynes. In the movie, Johnson will be playing Tom, a rescue-chopper pilot who risks life and limb to travel across the state to rescue his estranged daughter. If you're having a difficult time imagining exactly what Johnson would look like as a rescue-chopper pilot, just check out the Instagram photo that the actor released around this time last month.

Johnson has a habit of letting his fans into the filmmaking process, so you can probably expect a lot more photos like this to be released on his social media pages over the next few months. As for the finished product, San Andreas will be in theaters on June 5, 2015.
