Among all the amazing things The Dark Knight did this summer, it proved that moviegoers will not just flock to the movies, but pay extra, when a movie is on an IMAX screen. The next movie to test this theory to will be Eagle Eye, which comes out this weekend as a kind of delayed action-thriller cherry on the summer sundae. Speaking with director D.J. Caruso recently, Collider.com confirmed that Eagle Eye will be released in IMAX, as well as the new frontier of digital IMAX!
That's right-- 15 IMAX screens will host Eagle Eye in digital IMAX, which will be the first time the new technology has been tested. Of course, this doesn't make much of a difference for most moviegoers, and even Collider's Frosty admit much of the IMAX discussion is for film geeks only. But check out the video interviews with Caruso to hear a lot about the process of filming in IMAX, and also his plans to film Y: The Last Man in IMAX as well. That's right, the movie that isn't even written yet already has IMAX on his dance card. Hey, we told you that IMAX was the future; we just didn't know exactly how distant a future.
