Early G.I. Joe Reviews: Not As Bad As You'd Think![]()
All that bad buzz over G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra? It might be unwarranted. Maybe there’s hope for this movie yet. Reviews of the film have started surfacing around the internet in the form of scooper reviews sent in to three different movie blogs. One of them is being widely decried as an obvious studio planet, as in something written by the studio and leaked to unwary movie sites as a way of generating positive buzz for the film or alternatively something written by a movie site which hasn’t actually seen the film as a way of getting web traffic. Since there’s so much controversy and suspicion surrounding it, that review won’t be mentioned here. The other two however, seem to be the real deal.
If these other reviews are real, the surprising thing here is that they’re all generally positive. The most credible of the bunch was written by Collider where instead of relying on some shadowy scooper they got into the screening and saw the film for themselves They say “It’s the cartoon come to life,” and go on to praise the action sequences (which are plentiful) while lauding the pacing, characters, effects, and even the plot. AICN has two different scooper reviews of the film, both come down positive in one way or another. The first calls it an entertaining, “big, cheesy, fun and silly action movie” while the second takes a somewhat more mixed approach saying “the movie is loud, violent, and pop-corny enough (is that even a word?) for the general populace to enjoy.” Even I liked it.
