Eat Pray Love International Trailer: Everything Is Sunny Overseas
If it's embarrassing to admit to reading and enjoying Elizabeth Gilbert's memoir Eat Pray Love, I don't even want to know how much you'll judge me for looking forward to the movie. Yes, it looks as smug as anything Hollywood has ever produced, and will probably be two hours of Julia Roberts grinning widely, moaning over some awesome new food or scenery or religious experience, and it will end with her falling in love with Javier Bardem in tropical paradise. I know I will see it in a dingy New York theater and take the subway home and think about all the ways my life doesn't even come close. And yet, every summer needs a fantasy vacation movie, and Sex and the City 2 sure wasn't it.
A new international trailer for Eat Pray Love has landed online, and it looks like exactly as much escapist travel porn as you're expecting. It's not all that different tonally from the first trailer, mostly because there's not all that much new to show. It's still about a woman who gets a divorce and then travels around the world on the ultimate vacation. It's still intended to make you drool. The international trailer does all of those things, which makes it a success in my book. Eat, Pray, Love hits theaters in the U.S. on August 13, and so long as you see Scott Pilgrim first, it's OK by me if you indulge in this one too.
