Eddie Murphy is getting back with director Brian Robbins, with the guy who helped him make Norbit, and the thought of being forced to re-watch that film makes me want to end it all, right now. Hey it makes sense for Eddie I guess, Norbit was a big commercial hit. But god it was awful. Of course Eddie sold his soul for a quick buck a long time ago, so I guess this is what we should expect from him.
Variety says Murphy and Robbins are in negotiations to do a DreamWorks comedy called A Thousand Words. Here’s a the concept: Eddie plays a talkative man who finds out he only has 1,000 words left to say before he dies. So expect most of the film to be concerned with him not talking. That should make the script’s dialogue easy to write, but I’m not sure how it’ll play out on screen since Eddie’s usually at his best when he’s blabbering on endlessly. Maybe this will be Murphy’s Cast Away. Sarcasm indicated.
Like everything, DreamWorks is trying to cram this one in before the strike so they’ll have it to throw on their pre-strike stockpile. So don’t worry, even if there is a strike you won’t be deprived of Eddie Murphy’s latest travesty.
